Finance Procedure and Transactions The University has a number of financial procedures and regulations which must be observed by all staff to ensure accurate budgeting, legislative compliance and financial control.

The Finance Department can offer training and development in all aspects of financial management including:

• Project award to closure • Interpreting financial reports/Monthly Management Reports

• Understanding the University’s financial procedures (claiming expenses, raising invoices, payroll processes etc.)

• Purchasing procedures (how to raise purchase orders and pay invoices)

• Tendering for goods and services (with a value over £40,000)

Bespoke training sessions can be organised for groups of staff, departments or faculties. These sessions are most effective when they are arranged ‘as required’ to fulfil a particular requirement. For more information or to arrange training please email: gemma.coleman@canterbury.ac.uk

QL Student Record System

QL is the Student Record System used at Christ Church, containing all student data - past and present. Both Academic Staff and Programme Administrators are required to access and use the QL system to manage and view student data.

New User Training:

If you require access to QL, discuss your initial training requirements with your line manager and email: ql.training@canterbury.ac.uk to arrange a training session.

On-going Refresher and Update Training: Due to the changing nature of the QL database and University business practices, refresher training and drop-in clinics are offered on an on-going basis for existing staff across all CCCU locations.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 aims to promote greater openness and public sector accountability. Staff need to be aware of DPA and FOI day-to-day implications.

Participants are required to complete the Data Protection e-learning module in advance of the workshop; details will be emailed to staff.
