Appraisal Training Appraisal at CCCU


During the 12/13 academic year the University appraisal process will be reviewed. As part of this, all appraisers will be provided with relevant development to implement the revised system. Full information and invitations to contribute to the review will be provided via StaffNET and the HR & OD and Staff Development webpages.

Meetings Making Meetings Work


Target audience: All staff who chair, lead or facilitate meetings or group sessions wishing to be more effective.


What you can expect to learn:


• How to plan and prepare useful agendas and set clear objectives for meetings


• Controlling the meeting: timings, staying on track • Controlling difficult participants • Questioning and listening techniques • Summarising and implementing action plans

• Overview of the process, roles and responsibilities of each party within it


Minute Taking with Confidence Target audience:


Administrators or other staff who need to produce clear and accurate minutes. Shorthand skills are not required.


What you can expect to learn:


• Responsibilities of the minute taker and Chair • Effective preparation for a meeting and creation of useful agendas


• The structure of meetings: the meeting life-cycle • Skills of active and positive listening

• Note taking skills and minute writing styles including phrasing, punctuation and grammar


Development Programme


The Inspired Administrator Brief outline:


This programme has been designed for experienced Administrators seeking an opportunity to further enhance existing skills and network with like-minded colleagues. Recognition through the Institute of Leadership & Management through participation in the programme is an option.
