Switching on the Christmas lights around Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch officially starts the festive season

Bournemouth will be kicking off the festive season on Thursday 15 November by welcoming back its German Market, which has been well established for six years now. Based in the heart of town, there will be an abundance of decorated stalls offering seasonal, hand crafted goods. The Alpine Bar will be serving a range of drinks; sip on some warming Cherry Gluhwein or a mug of imported

German beer from Leipzig. The Bournemouth Christmas Light Switch On takes place on Sunday 25 November, with entertainment starting at 3pm and the official ‘switch on’ at 5pm. The Alpine Chalets all twinkle under the Christmas lights, making it the perfect setting for your Christmas shopping. Wimborne will be switching its lights on to the sound of Christmas Carols on

Saturday 24 November at 4.30pm. Get into the spirit of Christmas and join in as carols are sung around the tree. For something distinctly memorable,

make sure you get on down to Poole on Thursday 13 December for the Children’s Lantern Procession in the town centre. Starting at Falkland Square, the procession of lanterns made by children from a range of local schools moves

down the High Street to the Guildhall. What’s more, Father Christmas will be in Christchurch town centre attending the Christmas Festival on Saturday 01December. He’ll be helping the Mayor turn on the Christmas lights at 4.30pm, and there will be a variety of activities throughout the day from 10am.
