Sandra takes great strides to raise funds for hospice

A

local fitness fanatic donned her walking shoes for a gruelling 18 mile challenge last month.

Sandra Harnett, who runs Rosemary Conley fitness classes in Hemel Hempstead, completed the Tree Peaks of the Chilterns Charity Walk on Sunday, September 16.

She took on the challenge to raise money for Ian

Rennie Hospice at Home and completed the trek in just under six hours.

Sandra was joined by four Rosemary Conley members that she had helped to lose weight.

She said: “I always feel like a very proud parent when

we do these events. I wanted to set myself a personal challenge this year and what better way than to raise money for a local charity.

“I took the idea in to my classes to see if any of my members wanted to join myself and my husband who agreed, under protest, to do it with me.”

Sandra said the toughest part of the walk was the last Sandra Harnett’s walking team.

mile and a half because their legs had seized up after a water break.

After completing the walk, the group celebrated with a glass of hampagne.

She added: “I was so proud of my members. Tey had achieved so much and this time last year never dreamt that they would be hiking 18 miles in one day.”

Te group raised around £500 and Sandra is planning to take part other charity events in the near future including a climb of Ben Nevis.
