For some reason this month has been extremely busy. Mainly because we have been receiving tons of samples daily for our 7th Annual Giſt Guide. We now know what Christmas in July really means! ( We know it’s a bit early to talk about the holidays, but before you know it... We have literally received hundreds of samples of some fantastic giſt ideas for this holiday season and we know you will want to wait until you see our fabulous Giſt Guide. And only a select few will be selected for Living.Well Magazine’s prestigious “Tried & True” award a list of “must haves” for the holidays. As usual, the diehard summer loving people that we are haven’t closed our pool yet, just hoping for those one or two days of summer that always seem to appear as soon as we close the pool. Moving forward, LWM has one family member that won’t have to abandon the summer temperatures just yet. Our son, Sean who majored in communications in college with a minor in photography who contributes to LWM, sharing his expertise and skills with us while unable to expand his knowledge and resources on his own right now due to some life changing setbacks…to say the least. But, hopefully “change is coming,” on Sunday, September 30th, 2012. Sean has agreed to collaborate with LIVING.WELL MAGAZINE and share his journey to Te Biggest Loser Resort in Malibu, California. Sean looks forward to learning the skills to enable him to take control of the physical aspects of his life that he has control over. Read his story starting on page 18 to find out why it’s so important for him to achieve success and how you can help him. Sean will be blogging, facebooking, tweeting, using video and any other social media he can find to share his adventure with us.. He really needs your support. For more details, go to LWM’s facebook page(make sure you like us first so we can send you updates) at facebook.com/lwmlivingwellmagazine and find out how you can follow him on his journey. We will post links for his blogs etc.

As the weather turns a bit chillier it is, time to breakout the great comfort foods of the season. We usually go to one of the many local orchards for fresh Pumpkins as well as we pickup apples for Apple Sauce It’s a good excuse to take a ride and enjoy the weather on the weekend. When the kids were younger we used to go to the orchard and pick them ourselves while having apple fights with the roten apples on the ground. And of course itchy bumpy hayrides.

We started using fresh pumpkins for something other than Halloween ornaments a few years ago, aſter our kids came home with several extra pumpkins. As they sat outside waiting to be carved into a frightening creature for Halloween, we thought it might be a good idea to try eating them too, adding another new food to our arsenal of recipes. Although, we are relatively rookies with using fresh pumpkin but we look forward to the fall for pumpkin season. Although, We are not huge fans of Pumpkin Pie (we really are not fond of the spices that are used) but I love pumpkin cheesecake! However, I have found that we really enjoyed the flavor of pumpkin. We usually make Homemade Applesauce as well. Check out page 42 for a few recipes. Don’t forget there are tons of Walks in October all worthy causes. LWM is a sponsor for JDRF Walk for the Cure! And we would like to encourage all of our readers to help and support this event. Type 1 diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) is currently incurable, but with your help maybe in the future they will find a cure. Te kids need you! Enjoy! Brian & Diane
