n March 2013 Maggie rogers and Sharon Hart will be taking part in trekking the great wall of China (no, not all of it) in a challenge organised by global Charities through gold radio. Money raised is in aid of PrOStAte CAnCer UK. the charity is the UK’s leading charity working with people affected by pros- tate cancer. it funds research, support and information and campaigns to improve the lives of men and their families living with the disease. Sharon has previously taken part in two 13 mile mid- night walks and a parachute jump from 15,000ft for other deserving charities such as Macmillan nurses, rowcroft Hospice, breast Cancer. both work locally in Dartmouth Medical Practice, Maggie as receptionist and Sharon as a health care assistant. Sharon also works at noss Marina who is her main sponsor. their training to date has been trekking and swim- ming at weekends to build their fitness. they paid for the entry fee (£300) themselves but then came the huge task of raising £3,500 each for Prostate Cancer in order to take part. “Although we have both individually worked hard to raise the money, Maggie, acting as artist, has been frantically painting greeting

cards and has done exceptionally well. but we needed a serious boost to reach our collective goal of £7,000 so we thought ‘what about a GREAT WALL OF CHINA TREK AUCTION NIGHT’, so an Auction we will do.“ Browns Hotel is the venue for the auction to take place on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7th

, starting at

7pm. tickets will be available from Dartmouth Medical Practice for £10 and this will cover the cost of a glass of bubbly and food. the auctioneer is nick Crossley and Devonia Mineral water will be supplying the water and elderflower for the event. Devonia is the only bottling water company in the South west, based in beeson, near beesands. “we have some fabulous lots e.g.: a week’s stay at a holiday cottage in banaojan (nr rhonda) Spain, a helicopter flight and lesson at Dunkerswell, train tickets, paintings, meals vouchers etc. in all, we have approx. 30 auction lots. we will also hold a top qual- ity draw again with approx. 30 prizes. no one will be disappointed!

“A huge thank-you to local businesses for the support they have shown us. but hurry, as tickets are limited!”
