First Day of School The irst day of school was

hectic for the ofice, but thanks to the amazing work of our secretaries things went smoothly. On the second day of school our principal Ms. Cadena and assistant principals Mr. Mayernik, and Ms. Torres, hosted our welcome back assembly. They covered rules, new policies, and rewards for good behavior. They also talked about changes in a few of our teacher’s rolls. Mrs. Harris is now a P.E. teacher, and the leadership teacher, and Ms. Brown is in charge of A.L.C.

One of the reoccurring events at our school is the magazine fundraiser, but this year we also sold cookie dough. Some of the prizes included a plush frog with a ly inside, but participants should also look for a golden egg worth $50. Those who sold three magazines received a monster key chain as well as three front of the line passes. Other prizes included an In-‐N-‐Out lunch at six sales and a shot at playing wheel of fortune at ten sales. At ifteen sales students won a mechanical pig to race for money. Finally, at twenty sales students earned either a ticket to Knott’s Berry Farm or a chance to play Deal or no Deal.

Leadership and Spirit 6

Days Mrs. Harris is doing a great job of

making Spirit Days and Freedom Fridays fun for everyone. So far we have had 2 spirit days “NFL Day” and “Stripe Day.” We also had an assembly in memorial of 9/11. We also had our irst freedom Fridays of the school year. The 6th graders kicked it off with a water balloon toss. The irst place winner was Miss. Stroh’s class and second place went to Mrs. Garcia.

Looking Ahead:

Washington D.C. Trip The D.C. trip is an annual ield trip for 8th graders, which is held by Mr. Hahn (8th grade Language Arts and U.S. History). The D.C. trip takes ive days and nights during spring break. Four students share a room, and ordinarily you get to chose your roommates. Some of the places you will visit are; the Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian Museums. Some of the past 8th graders favorites are the Dinner Cruise on the Potomac River, and the Pentagon. All of these wonderful places are included in the low price of $1868. This price includes everything from airfare to food.
