L – Learn more, Earn more


Just doing what you always do, even if you do more of it, won’t get you a pay rise, promotion or a new role. To do that you need to develop your skills and learn new ones, in order to get noticed. This is exactly why Chartered Accountants Ireland has developed a range of lifelong learning options to support you. You can dip your toe in the water of a new technical area with our CPD courses or make the commitment to a leap forward with a specialist qualification. A diploma on your CV shows your employer or prospective employer that you are prepared to go the extra mile.


Do not underestimate how increasingly important soft skills are the longer you are qualified.


the job, but also “how” you do it. That means developing your interpersonal skills and becoming a superior communicator (do you really know how to listen effectively?) and therefore negotiator and networker. It will get you noticed by the right people much quicker than quietly burning the midnight oil.


As you get more senior you should consider an executive coach to work with you one to one on your goals and challenges.
