There are many circumstances in which your record of CPD could be inspected; on renewal of a practicing certificate, on applying for a new registration/authorisation, on receiving a complaint against you or your firm or just a random selection.


Be prepared. Preparing for a CPD audit is no different to preparing for any other audit.

So what should I do? • Set aside some time to plan your annual CPD – get it into your diary early in the year.


• Create a simple template on word or excel to keep a record of all your CPD


• Consider carefully your declaration of compliance. Bear in mind that whatever you state on your declaration must be verifiable.


• If you attend Institute events, keep the technical papers. • If you a read a relevant article in the press, scan it and keep a copy of it.


• Familiarise yourself with the guidance notes on the CARB website.
