“Thumbs down (really down) to the little old
lady who came to Fisk School this morning and bad mouthed a person who is running for office. First of all, what you said about the person was down right mean. Second, of all, going around to the different people standing there doing their Patriotic duty and saying the same stuff about the person, babbling your mouth off was irresponsible! I felt so embarrassed about what you told me about the other person. This is a free country with freedom of speech, but do it somewhere else! Semper Fi!”
“Thumbs down to the state of NH for charging
veterans more money for veteran plates as they risked there lives for our freedom. Shame on you.”
“Thumbs down to
whomever made the decision to allow construction near the intersection of Lawrence Road and Butler Street to begin right when the school year started. Teachers, staff and buses are routinely held up while the road is either restricted to one lane or temporarily closed for, in at least one instance, ten minutes. There really is no viable alternative route available. This should have been taken care of during the
Democratic primary! We will all be winners if we elect this intelligent, respectful gentleman to represent Salem in the State House November 6!”
“Thumbs down to Candidates Willard Romney
and Paul Ryan. Willard Romney neglects to endorse his own Massachusetts health plan. Paul Ryan fails to refuses endorse his own IPAB Medicare cost-control proposal (Mr. Brooks: same as Obama’s $700 PPACA cuts from Medicare). Why not? Because, their puppeteers have told them not to. We, the people, are not the 1%. We need a president who works for the 100%, not Romney.”

summer months as it is less than a half-mile from the Barron School. If summer construction was not an option, then construction should take place between 9 and 2 only. I appreciate that repairs had to be made to the streets and I support that, but please use common sense.”
“Thumbs down to Charlie Bass. Who is ‘Retire
Safe’ giving Mr. Bass an award for ‘standing up for America’s seniors.’ Seems they appreciate Mr. Bass’ Medicare washing huge amounts of federal money through big insurance, adding hundreds of billions to cost going to high salaries, overhead, and not bargaining to bring down the price of prescription drugs. Mr. Bass insists that the Federal Government not negotiate drug prices like other governments. Monopolists’ health care remains highly profitable for big insurance, pharmaceutical and hospital corporations; America’s seniors suffer, the middle class pays. New Hampshire needs to be represented, not insurance companies.”
“Thumbs down to Salem Schools Food Service for completely doing away with white bread, white pasta, white potatos, and switching to strictly wheat bread, wheat pasta, and sweet potatos. What intelligent body of people made this decision for all of the student body? Do you have any idea how many people have wheat allergies? Do you have any idea how many kids do not have an acquired taste preference to sweet potatos? Shame on the School Board and Administration for allowing this. The kids get a pitiful lunch compared to other school districts as it is. Now, the majority of students are skipping the food served altogether and opting for snacks out of the vending machines. Bring back the real food that school cafeteria workers used to make! Real potatos, real meat, desserts and such made with Government issued cheese and butter.
It’s a
disgrace!” “Thumbs up to State Representative candidate
Michael Murray for finishing first in last week’s

“Thumbs down. Since when is it a crime to smoke in a designated smoking area? Don’t be so critical, singling out certain groups of hard working people who may one day be taking care of you or a family member.”
“Thumbs up to the Coinage Act of April 2, 1792
which has never been repealed. All coins are to be pure gold, silver and copper. And the penalty for anyone found debasing or making worse the proportions of the pure metals ‘shall be deemed guilty of felony, and shall suffer death.’ Are you listening, town authorities? Failure to point out a felony is itself a felony.”
“Thumbs up, to the Patriot for printing the weekly rants of the Silly Old Women (SOW) lobby. DeeDee, FeeFee and DumDum’s outright lies, and spewing of hate filled rhetoric merely exposes the extremist left that wants to turn America into a socialist sewer.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem Post Office.
Monday morning at 10:30 and you have only one clerk working the counter. Three people, including myself, left the line because the wait was ridiculous. Two other employees came and went, but neither had the initiative to open a register and help customers. No wonder the Postal Service is going down the tubes because there is no customer service. Buying my stamps from the machine was a better experience and faster.”
“Thumbs down to the article in the local paper about an arrested man using Northeastern Way in Salem as his address for license and registration. What’s with the Registry of Motor Vehicles? Don’t they check these things out? Northeastern Way does not exist in Salem and last I knew, it was an industrial park. Fire them all.”
“Thumbs down to the new Voter ID law. 5.5%
of the vote was turn away (60 out of 1080) and no one knows how many more were unable to find

their polling station because Salem did not post the changes to the Secratary of State’s website. It is also no surprise that polling at the Soule School was chosen to close since the area has a lot of economically challenged and elderly who tend to vote for the Democrats. Republican’s are not even trying to hide the fact that they are trying to buy the elections and if they can’t do that, they will just steal it!”
“Thumbs down. I have been watching the Salem BOS meeting and it’s very clear that this Town Manager is a shady character and it’s time for this Board to give him his walking papers. He tries to sneak in this and that, he is always scheming and trying to pull a fast one on the people of Salem. He has his pit-bull, Bill Scott, to cover his back, the Manager will lie and Bill Scott will swear to it. I was happy when this Manager came on board to work here, now I think he is the worst thing that could have happened to this town. Well, gentleman, all you need is three (3) Votes.”
“Thumbs down to the Salem Republican Committee for getting a headquarters on the second floor that has no handicapped access. I guess the chairman is anti- handicapped. I will vote Democrat now.”
“Thumbs down to Steven Campbell. I’ve finally figured out your way of thinking. If someone disagrees with you, they are either dishonest or wrong. So, I didn’t put Mr. McDougal for State Rep as you did, obviously, by the sign on your front lawn. Does this mean that I am dishonest and wrong?”
“Thumbs down. Taxpayers in Salem, did you know that the school district spent hundreds to get a TV, then they spent thousands of dollars for classrooms to have a new flat screen TV? Teachers are supposed to teach, where does the TV fit, especially in the elementary schools? Your tax dollars are being wasted.”
“Thumbs down to the food service director. She’s putting out too much processed chicken. Bring back the home cooked meals.”
“Thumbs up to the movie
2016. I urge everyone to see the movie about Obama and what he has planned for America if re-elected.”
“Thumbs up/down. I was at the SARL a couple of weeks ago when they dropped off truck-load of dogs, dogs that need homes and love. Maybe you people who keep writing in and fussing and fighting about the way things are in this town and this country – please go out and adopt a dog! Maybe it will make you a happier person. These dogs need homes and they need someone to love and to love them back. Please do it, and maybe you will be a happier person and you won’t have time to write in to the

thumbs column about all the stupid things that are ailing you.”
“Thumbs up to the Crossing Guard at the Barron School. She has done an unbelievable job of getting the kids across the street safe, and on and off the bus safely. Maybe she could teach the Salem PD a little something about traffic control. Love that Crossing Guard! Don’t like the PD on Lawrence Road.”
“Thumbs up to Romney. He speaks the truth
when he says he loves America. He has always worked hard. He has personally helped the poor, sick, yes, even women. He’s too modest to boast about it. He has worked without a paycheck to benefit others. When he donated money, it was his own. He didn’t mandate it from hardworking taxpayers. He takes accountability for his mistakes. Our country’s crisis cannot easily and soon be fixed, but he has the guts and know-how to begin.”
“Thumbs up. Don’t forget prochoice! Abortions should have been and should be legal in all states. Rapes should be #1 in abortions! No question about it.”
