The Asthma Protocol

1. Medical Advice: Asthma is a serious condition and I took responsibility for my medication. At all stages of this work I monitored my symptoms and reliever usage. I only cut down medication when I had already seen symptoms reduce. Gary Craig always cau- tioned people to consult with the appropriate medical professional and I endorse this view.
2. EFT as a coping tool: At the onset of an asthma attack EFT can be very effective when applied to the symptoms. EFT is so rapid this can provide relief equally as fast as a few puffs on a Ventolin reliever.
Getting symptom relief in this way is a great way to build confidence about the art of the possible with EFT. I found the quicker I started tapping on the symptoms the bet- ter results I got. If I ignored the symptoms for some time I would need more rounds of tapping and sometimes need to resort to using the reliever inhaler.
Tapping on a specific trigger that you know you react to is a valuable step. I for example had reacted to paint fumes from some decoration work at home. The next time I was exposed I used the tapping sequence below. I tuned into the feeling in my chest and start tapping with the set up phrase;- “Even though I have this asthma feeling, I deeply and completely accept myself” *3
Reminders: “This tightness in my chest” (repeat for one round of points); “I thank my unconscious for warning me of this danger”; “This paint smell”; “I thank my uncon- scious for looking out for me and keeping me safe” ;“I’d like to tell my unconscious it’s safe for me now”; “This paint smell is safe for me” ; “It’s safe for me now” (repeat- ed until the end of the round or the feeling has gone)
I also tapped using similar routines for unknown triggers and as a preventative routine. I often did this before go- ing to bed as many of my attacks were overnight.
3. Classic EFT: Using simple yet powerful ques- tions may get you straight to the root cause issues
• When did your symptoms start? • What was going on in your life at that time? • What does the asthma feelings remind you of? • When do you get attacks? • What are the triggers?
• Asthma can feel like something on your chest – if this was a metaphor what does it mean to you?
If these question don’t give a direction I would recom- mend tapping to ask your unconscious for help. For example as a set up phrase;-
