K-based Grace Construction Products has supplied its high-performance Preprufe

waterproofing membrane to Africa’s largest shopping centre, the US$ 235 million Morocco Mall in Casablanca. Covering 10ha, the Morocco Mall is

just 20m from the sea and so required a comprehensive waterproofing system that would protect its concrete podium from water penetration, while providing protection from salt and sulphates in the ground. After a series of tests, Grace’s Preprufe 300R and Bituthene 3000 were chosen by contractor SGTM Construction.

to ‘aggressively’ adhere to Preprufe, forming a seal that prevents water migration and substantially reduces the risk of leaks. It can also be applied to wet concrete and is immediately ready – without the need for protective layers − to receive rebar installation, accelerating the construction programme. Grace’s Bituthene 3000 sheet-applied

waterproofing membrane was chosen for Morocco Mall’s walls. Its Adcor 500S hydro- expansive waterstop, Serviseal 195 external PVC waterstop system and Bituthene Liquid Membrane have also been used by SGTM Construction on the project.

Saint-Gobain’s Ensign system for St Mary’s

aint-Gobain’s Ensign, a cast-iron above-ground drainage system, has been chosen for a pioneering

hospital in London. St Mary’s Hospital, a general acute hospital that diagnoses and treats a range of adult and paediatric conditions, will use the system, which was specified by London-based engineering consultancy Genever and Partners. According to Gary Zumeris of Saint- Gobain PAM UK, this is down to two key factors. Firstly the fire-resistant cast iron guarantees a reduced risk of fire, and secondly, the system is one of the quietest available, ensuring noise when transporting fluid waste is kept to a minimum. The Ensign system, which was supplied

by UK distributor Ashworth, was ‘the ideal choice’ for St Mary’s Hospital, due to its safety and acoustic requirement, added Zumeris: “Cast iron provides a ‘fit and forget’ solution, plus it is kite-marked to the latest BS EN 877 standard and tested for quality by a leading third-party assessor.”

New Sika-Trocal brochures S

ingle-ply roof membranes supplier Sika-Trocal has launched a new range of product brochures for adhered, mechanically-fixed, ballasted and green roofs. The new brochures provide a complete

overview of the company’s entire single- ply roofing range, and are designed to help architects and specifiers choose the best roofing options. Each brochure includes details of the roofing systems alongside new-project photography

showing the single-ply membranes in-situ. The brochures also include information on SikaSpec, the company’s online specification tool for generating standard and

NBS specifications, as well as Sika-Trocal’s licensed contractors scheme and the regular installation inspections carried out by its technical services team. Key products within the Sika-Trocal range offer a fixing system that facilitates speedy installation.

Using the Sika-Trocal disc system,

for example, buildings quickly become airtight, giving a considerable cost benefit when finishing a roofing project on time.
