8 OPTIONS SEPTEMBER/DECEMBER 2012 Trinity fifteen-year-old gets straight A’s at A level

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD Ed He from Trinity School is celebrating after getting straight A grades in A level Maths, Further Maths and Physics as well as a B in AS biology.

Ed has already emerged as one of the country’s brightest young mathematicians and Trinity has been liaising with Oxford University to make the most of his talents. He is staying on at the School to study further A levels next year whilst starting on degree-level Mathematics to prepare for university.

Other Trinity students are also celebrating, having got the top grades needed to go on to their chosen courses at university.

Cara Childs from Teignmouth will be going to study Psychology at

York, where she will be joined by her classmate Holly Wilce who will be studying Nursing. Guy Oldrieve will be going to Cardiff to study Biology and Alexei Pushkin to deMontfort to study Advertising and Marketing.

Guy said: ‘I’m ecstatic – my results have way exceeded expectations.’

The Headmaster, Tim Waters said: ‘This has been a very pleasing year for all of our students and I am particularly pleased that Ed continues to make stellar progress given his age. Our thanks are due to all the staff who have worked so hard to make this possible.’

With six Good School Guide awards for academic success in five years and an ‘Outstanding’ inspection report in 2010, Trinity is now established as one of the top day and boarding schools in the region. Recent appearances, and successes, in national finals for four sports, for public speaking and in Cadet Force competitions, mean that we are also coming to national prominence.

Modern children need to be prepared for life in a globalised, technology-driven world. They deserve to experience breadth and richness in their education.

Most importantly, however, they

need to grow up in an environment where they develop values that will help them to lead fulfilled lives and contribute positively to the world around them. At Trinity, we therefore blend the Christian principles that derive from our joint Anglican/Catholic foundation with a forward-looking, modern approach to education.

We are coeducational and cater for the whole family, with Nursery, Prep and Senior Departments.

Having doubled in size in the last fifteen years, our community numbers over five hundred pupils, most coming from South Devon, but with over one hundred boarders from around the UK and overseas bringing a wider perspective to School life.

We are aiming to get the very best out of all our pupils, given that we have a full ability-range

intake. It is this willingness to work with individuals that marks Trinity out. To see for yourself how we turn potential into reality please feel free to come and visit us, at any time, by appointment, there is no obligation and ‘taster days’ are highly recommended.

Trinity Preparatory Department

TRINITY Preparatory Department is home to approximately 100 girls and boys between the ages of 4 and 11. Well- qualified staff, led by a dynamic head, provide a caring, nurturing environment where your child will flourish. Our aim is to have pupils as happy, self-confident individuals who have access to a wide range of academic, sporting, musical and creative opportunities.

Our children

achieve high academic results, whilst also having the chance to participate in local and national sporting events, music festivals, where many prizes are won, and activity weeks We plan that every child has the opportunity to attain their true potential.

Leading up to the Prep Department we also offer both nursery and reception classes for children from the age of three months until five years old. All four sections of the school are housed in separate buildings that have their own unique style and facilities, but they are within the same campus which allows the use of all

amenities including sports, art and drama.

DIGITAL - FOR THE BEST SOUND EVER!

‘EVERYTHING’S digital!’ At least, that’s what we seem to hear these days, and a good thing too.

Digital Keyboards and Pianos give the best sound ever, with amazing flexibility. You can sound like Status Quo or any other band you care to mention, all on your own at the touch of a button.

With digital recording you can build up a

whole symphony on your own or play a piano concerto with the orchestra.

Things have certainly moved on apace over the last 15 years or so and prices are cheaper now than then; while quality and performance have dramatically improved beyond recognition, there’s never been a better time to buy a keyboard.

Music Unlimited is an independently owned business specialising in keyboards, pianos and organs.

The proprietor, Wensleigh Palmer, has more than 41 years experience in the trade, as well as being a professional keyboard musician.
