The avalanche of equipment announcements and proclamations about the latest products means one thing: trade show time. Over the past few weeks, my inbox has gone from being filled with carefully worded emails about ‘a large sporting event in London’ to being overwhelmed with IBC- related news.
It’s always a struggle for manufacturers and suppliers to cut through
the wall of noise that is generated in the run-up to a show like IBC, NAB or BVE, and in an effort get their messages across, Sony, Panasonic and Canon unveiled some of their latest cameras a few weeks ahead of the Amsterdam exhibition and conference. But if there’s one thing the launch of Blackmagic’s Cinema Camera
22
at NAB in April proved, it was that delegates like nothing more than a surprise, so here’s hoping they have kept one or two cards up their sleeves.
