AppToyz creates toys to compliment Apps on a smartphone or media device, incorporating driving simulators, space-age laser guns, helicopters and more. The toys position a phone or media device midway between standard use and computer console, each one featuring a number of apps. The key product releases for 2012 include AppFishing and the Karaoke and Quiz recreations enabled by AppSing and AppQuiz. AppControl is a portable device which transforms a phone into an arcade replicating device. The company will be launching a TV advertising campaign at the end of October, to maximise retail presence in the build-up to Christmas. Several major retail deals have been struck with Argos, John Lewis, Toys R Us, Debenhams, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U to stock the company’s products. AppToyz will be using Facebook, Twitter and a blog which will glean the most useful aspects of the internet for followers of both the gaming and app communities. The Twitter strategy splits factual software, focused on the more technologically-savvy customer, and light-hearted internet based humour via the Voice of ‘Z’, a cartoon robot.
