The Toy Trust will host a 70-mile Round the Isle of Wight Bike Ride on Saturday 15th June next year. Recently cited by travel guide lonelyplanet.com as one of the Top 10 best bike rides in the world, with many cycle paths and a spectacular coastal route, the Toy Trust event is open to all and is not a race. over £100,000 via sponsorship… All you need is a bike, a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of adventure and a big heart!”

Any company or individual interested in taking part should register with Matt Jones at the BTHA. The event is strictly limited to 120 places and the registration fee is £75, which will include event entry, commemorative polo shirt plus evening celebration meal and disco. Sylvanian Families to twin with English village

The Entertainer’s first ever branch moves to a new home

The Amersham store is hosting a day of free family fun to celebrate moving to a new home. The store is moving round the corner from its current

address in Hill Avenue to a big, bright and modern store on the town’s main shopping street. For the first time, the shop front will match the recognisable blue frontage of other The Entertainer stores. To celebrate the move, Amersham families were invited to a grand opening on Saturday, August 25 featuring demonstrations, giveaways and character visits. They also had a chance to meet popular Moshi Monster Katsuma, who was in-store celebrating the launch of Moshi Monsters Moshlings Series Four range. Gary Grant, founder and owner of The Entertainer,

said: “Three decades after opening our first toy shop in Amersham, the town is still at the heart of our business - our head office is based here and the local store is very important to us. We want to make our shop as enjoyable and fun to be in as possible and we hope the new-look store will do exactly that for our Amersham customers.”

Sylvanian Families is to celebrate its 25th anniversary by twinning with a quintessentially English village. The campaign, launched by Flair and Evolution PR, is to search for the village thought to have the most in common with Sylvania. Dedicated web pages and social media will support the activity, with extensive coverage in local and national newspapers and children’s press. The search will take place throughout August and September with the aim to officially twin with the winning village by half-term in October. Villages must be nominated by September 15th 2012. Once all entries have been received a shortlist will be created and official judges, including the famous Freya Chocolate Rabbit, will visit the locations to decide which village feels most like Sylvania. Speaking of the campaign, Holly Lackey, Girls Marketing Manager at Flair,

said: “Twinning a UK village with Sylvania is just one of many fun campaigns we have in the pipeline for the anniversary year. The inspiration came when talking about how many people we knew who were just like the quirky Sylvanian Families characters and the idea grew into a serious search for Sylvania. Villages and towns are continually twinning with all parts of Europe so we hope that the nation will embrace this fun activity and seek to put their villages on the map as a little piece of Sylvania too.”
