ACG Western Michigan, the local chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, began in 1997, launched by a group of West Michigan business leaders who recognized the need for a local organization to serve as a resource to executives actively involved in deal making as well as internal and external growth challenges in their own companies.

Today, ACG Western Michigan has grown to

over 200 members, representing a diverse group of corporate executives and professional service providers from a variety of industries. These members’ titles include CEO, CFO, COO and other high-level management positions, as well as principals in law, accounting and other consult- ing firms, and financiers such as equity investors, venture capitalists and commercial bankers. Regardless of title or industry, all face the same challenge of growing a business in a fast-paced, ever-changing, competitive environment. This is where ACG can be an invaluable resource. Two primary and longstanding benefits

provided by membership in ACG Western Michigan have been the presentation of out- standing educational breakfast programs and the opportunity to network with local executives who face similar operational and strategic chal- lenges in growing businesses. The educational programs are presented

at monthly breakfast meetings on the third Wednesday of the month. For a complete sched- ule and description of the 2011 breakfast pro- grams, please visit the ACG Western Michigan website at www.acgwmich.org. Breakfast pro- grams involve a speaker or panel, often leaders in their fields, who offer real-world experiences, insights and expertise on topics relevant to the West Michigan membership. These programs offer fresh perspective and generate creative thought about growth challenges through an interactive approach that is refreshing, honest and helpful. The breakfast programs are open to members and non-members, and provide an excellent opportunity to meet other local busi- ness leaders with a common interest – how to successfully navigate the challenges presented by organizational growth. In addition to the monthly breakfast

programs, the Western Michigan Chapter honors a local business annually with the ACG Outstanding Growth Award at an evening recep- tion attended by over 400 participants from the local business community. The 2012 recipient of the Outstanding Growth Award is ADAC

Automotive. Past recipients have included such notable West Michigan companies as Perrigo; Wolverine World Wide Inc.; Butterball Farms Inc.; National Heritage Academies; Rockford Construction Co. Inc.; Herman Miller Inc.; Elan Nutrition and Service Express Inc.. The ACG Western Michigan Annual Dinner, held in the fall, also attracts a large audience to hear such renowned speakers as co-founder of Alticor Inc., Richard DeVos, and president of AirTran Holdings Inc., Robert L. Fornaro.
