DOORS&WINDOWS WHAT A PAS!

Innovative composite door manufacturer, Solidor, recently went testing for the renewal of their PAS23/24 certification with highly impressive results, thanks to the structure of the door slab and a new locking system.

Solidor have recently signed an exclusive deal with Avantis

International for their new door lock, which they believe provides the largest and strongest hook and bolt system in the door sector. Like many features from Solidor, this new locking mechanism carries the industry’s first 25mm triangulated dead bolt, which makes for greater compression on a closed door. Another key feature is the deadlock, which also operates from the action of lifting the handle, rather than a key turn.

Te Avantis lock easily passed PAS 24 for security which requires that the lock can sustain a manual attack for three minutes. In fact after two men had attacked the door for five minutes, they gave up to test the DorPro hinge, which also comfortably exceeded the required specification.

According to the testing house at Mila it was ‘the strongest composite door yet tested’ thanks to the hardware and the fact that the Solidor slab is a solid timber core, rather than a foam filled GRP door. Solidor can also boast that not only are their doors some of the most secure in the industry, they are also some of the most innovative, thanks to 14 internal and external colour options and a number of hardware options.

Gareth Mobley, managing director of Solidor Group comments: “Te testing process for PAS 23/24 clearly demonstrated the quality of our door and also the Avantis lock. We’ve also got further new developments on the way to help our customers stand out from the standard composite door offerings on the market.”

Apeer, the name of the most advanced door entrance system on the market, is expanding its standard colour offer to include a fashionable new shade – and introducing a brand new, four-colour Premium range.

Te current palette of nine standard colours is being lifted to 10 to include Chartwell Green, a popular ‘heritage’ shade that was previously only available for an additional charge through the company’s bespoke colour service. Te new Premium range will comprise Duck Egg Blue, Anthracite Grey, Light Grey and Traffic Red. Tese colours will be offered at no extra cost for a promotional six months period.

Said Apeer marketing manager Linda

Tomb: “Colour is a critical part of our offer. We know there is a demand for these colours so we have reviewed our ranges to make previously bespoke colour choices more easily available. Chartwell Green is one of the pastel ‘heritage’ colours that has proved especially popular over the past two years and is now available at no extra cost on either the door or the frame. same will apply to Premium range colours. Tese include a bright red to complement the dark red and burgundy already available in the standard range.”

In addition to its standard and new

Premium range, Apeer doors can also be customised to any BS or RAL colour which, for an additional charge, gives homeowners a wide choice of different shades. Customers are able to choose non- standard colours on one or both sides of the door. It adds up to a truly bespoke colour service that most door manufacturers are simply not geared up to offer. Said Linda Tomb: “People absolutely love being able to have the exact colour they are looking for to personalise their entrance system. Around ten per cent of our orders are now for bespoke colours - everything from a plummy mauve to a subtle turquoise.”

All Apeer doors are coloured with a hi-tech, two-component polymer coating leaving a lustrous finish which gives a true grained effect and provides a maintenance-free surface that can be cleaned quickly and easily.
