Another season of Zumba with instructor Mary Tyree

Mary Tyree, Licensed Instructor Are you ready to celebrate the end of

summer and get back into shape? If you traveled this summer and are feeling the need to “exercise in disguise” and want to have fun doing it, join us. I am a licensed Zumba Basic, Zumba Gold and Zumba Toning instructor and a Sun Lakes resident for over 10 years. Zumba is the perfect way to release stress, relax and have fun at the same time. Learn simple and easy Zumba routines

based on music such as the Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Samba, along with familiar favorites designed for active adults. I’ll teach you the steps and we will have fun doing them. Just wear comfortable attire and shoes, bring your water and you are ready to go. Meet new friends and reconnect with current ones. Come enjoy the fun and exercise with drawings for prizes and free classes. Classes offered in the Cottonwood

Mirror Room (6A) and other local locations. Drop in for just $3 per class starting Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Classes are Tuesdays from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Fridays from

It’s back to school time for members of Sun Lakes Chorale

Jan Ott After resting voices, minds and bodies,

resident Chorale singers are showing their customary enthusiasm and planning for the upcoming musical season beginning Friday, September 7, the date of the fi rst Board meeting and rehearsal for 2012- 2113. The 10:00 a.m. monthly meeting, held in the Mirror Room,

is open to all

members; rehearsals are at 1:00 p.m. Returning singers should arrive early to complete paperwork. Members are encouraged to pre-register

by emailing Board Treasurer Lyn Munn. They may go to their rehearsal location at Sun Lakes Country Club’s Mirror Room on August 31 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. to pay annual dues and collect new music a week before rehearsals begin. Summer residents are eager to peruse the selections and “catch up” with those they haven’t seen during the busy summers. Those who arrive after the 31st can complete registration at their fi rst rehearsal. Chorale members particularly look

forward to greeting Director Cris Evans and Accompanist Janice Manning, whose musical lives are busy year-round. The ranks of the professionals will be expanding this year as Bart Evans, former/ ongoing music educator and husband to Cris, will be adding his talents as Performance Coordinator. With

excellent team, singers can

look forward

to another year of learning and laughing, in addition to heartfelt

others happy with their music. Readers, get out your calendars: The

Chorale’s Holiday Concert will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, and the Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Both events will again be held at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, and there is plenty of time to alert families and music-loving friends to make plans to attend. For those who may have an interest in becoming part of

this very upbeat

and widely enjoyed ensemble, further information may be obtained from Board President Linda Horton (LindaHorton@ or Vice President Carolyn Ellis at 883-6997. Sitting in on a rehearsal is encouraged, and visitors will have the opportunity to share music and determine if they wish to join. Some snowbirds return too late for Holiday Concert preparation but enjoy joining the group during the second half of the year following

the holidays. Be sure and view the Chorale’s website at
