New officers: Mike Thayer, Sgt-at-Arms; Joe Hora, Historian; Bill Filippi, JAG; Joe Schneider, Dept Chaplin; Stan Zolna, Finance Officer; Ken Stanton, 2nd Vice Cmdr; Byron Weston, Commander;

Pat Nicholaisen Here It is September already; I am not

sure where the summer went. Welcome back to all who escaped the heat and went to cooler climates, even though it was cooler here than most parts of the county this year and we have a DRY heat. Thanks to over half of our membership

for getting their renewal in before the August 1 deadline. It sure makes it easier on me to get it all done. I also received some back that we had not been notifi ed that they have gone to Post Everlasting, and for this I am truly sorry. I hope in the future with the addition

Judy Beishel, Installing Officer Area B Vice Cmdr; Pat

Nicholaisen, 1st Vice Cmdr; Ben Carrillo, Adjutant. Missing: Jim Lindstrom, Service Officer and Ann Sawatski, Chaplin.

the same time, same upon us very shortly! This means

fall will be that

the annual Halloween Pet Parade will be taking place once again. This year’s parade will be held on

Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. The location is Lake Diamond in the Oakwood section of Sun Lakes. The parade is open to all residents of Sun Lakes so it is time to get creative and think of a fun and original costume for your pet. Last year’s parade was a huge success.

We had over 125 dogs and 250 spectators! We strongly encourage you to invite your families, especially your grandchildren, who can either walk with our costumed and uncostumed pets, or sit on the grassy area and watch the parade go by. By all means, don’t forget those cameras! With such a huge turnout in 2011,

even more prizes will be given to the best dressed pets. Water bowls and treats will

be provided but please be sure to bring a bag or two, to clean up after your dog. We promise you a P.A. system that

will work and a more organized method of judging the dogs, including numbers, which will be given to all of you who wish to enter your dog in the costume contest!

So, be creative

browse through those pet costumes. Sheila Stout, a resident of
