June 19

On the way back from London, my mind drifted off into the passing scenery, away into my own thoughts. I’ve needed some time to think recently, what with things being over with my girlfriend Olivia now. Two years doesn’t heal in two days. But that’s why I love writing, it gives me a release. You can’t create inspiration on demand, it’s what life brings you.

I go on holiday to the Lake District. Took a walk with the family today from our cottage to explore the lakes; it was a lovely hazy afternoon. We got some great headshots for my website while we were out, using the natural beauty of the green surroundings to set the scene. I like to keep a chilled and natural image, seeing as so much of that influences how I write.

That evening, Tom and I jammed around the fire. It’s amazing here. The sky was lit with a blanket of stars. We chatted about everything, from politics to childhood stories.

The kind of social and global problems we discussed are those kind of ones that I want to share with people in my writing; it’s so important to me.

My friends came over to our family home tonight in Derbyshire. We had a barbeque and enjoyed the evening outdoors. To top it all off, we sat back and listened on the little wireless radio as BBC Introducing played my song ‘Daylight’ – it doesn’t get much sweeter than that. An evening outdoors with the people you love and some great music. But then I would say that, wouldn’t I!

London tonight! Playing at my favourite venue The Half Moon in Putney. After that I will be continuing to record my EP over the summer with Jake Gosling. I’ll see where the interest from A and Rs and publishers leads to and continue performing. I appreciate all the love and support from my fans, friends and family.

Thanks to Sam for sharing his thoughts and experiences.
