How did the Forum of Private Business come about? The Forum was established by small business owners in 1977 as a lobbying group to fight for the fair treatment of small firms. At the time it was apparent that individual big businesses were influencing the Government’s agenda and that small firms didn’t get a say. The owners of small businesses in the town of Knutsford in Cheshire got together to agree what they wanted to say to the Government and the Forum grew from there. Over the years, as the business landscape has changed, so too have the needs of our members. To stay relevant, our offering has evolved and now includes our business support

services, aimed

at promoting and boosting the profitable growth of small firms from all sectors and across the UK.

What support do you provide small businesses? The Forum saves businesses time and money. We represent 18,000 small firms across the UK and use
