Wine up and wind down

Today was a bit of an adventure! We started out by hiking Sugarloaf Mountain which has beautiful views of Comus, MD. There were four trails to choose from, and one includes a horseback trail.

We rested our weary feet at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard at the base of the mountain. The tasting room and outdoor area were filled with people trying out the latest wine and the staff was very knowledgeable. The vineyard is gorgeous and in such a picturesque setting. For lunch, we stopped at the historic Comus Inn.

Then we went berry picking at Butler's Orchard, which is a one stop shop for fresh fruits and vegetables in season. They also hosts special events throughout the year including a hayride pumpkin festival and a Bunnyland during Easter.

After Butler's Orchard, we headed over to the RIO Washingtonian Center for dinner. There were a ton of options, everything from California Pizza Kitchen to Joe's Crab Shack. There's also about 20 retail stores. The shopping center is nestled in between two lakes that are great for taking an afternoon stroll or just enjoying the view and watching the ducks.
