Highlights from this year’s big event in Brighton! 1


An excellent steel band from the local Somerhill Junior School played


for arriving Congress delegates on the Wednesday morning. Deputy head teacher Helen Longton-Howorth told Congress that, thanks to a £2,000 donation from GMB, the band would now be able to buy their own GMB-branded instruments, rather than rely on borrowed kit.


Saturday evening, giving a warm welcome to all Congress delegates.

Congress welcomed the general secretary’s report on GMB finances


and agreed a less-than-inflation rise of 5p on grade one and two subscriptions.


Mary Turner and Malcolm Sage hosted GMB President’s Night on


blacklisting in her address to Congress.
