THE PROTECTOR OF THE PARROTS & THE PARROT REFUGE IN COOMBS

endy Huntbatch looks lovingly into Iago’s jet- black eyes and says, “You’re beautiful.” Iago stares

back, blinks, cocks his feathered head and says…well… nothing. Not that he couldn’t, of course, he’s a 16-year-old

Moluccan cockatoo with an extensive vocabulary. He is one of more than 800 birds that have found themselves under Huntbatch’s tireless care at the World Parrot Refuge in Coombs. Iago joins many other species at the refuge, including hyacinth macaws, scarlet macaws, African grey parrots, budgerigars, cockatiels, conures, parakeets, lovebirds, and many more.
