RECOGNITION Store Stars Rich Williams

Installation Manager Car Audio, Radio & Security North Charleston, S.C.

Rommel Miranda, owner: “Rich has

illustrated outstanding installations and dedication toward the business for three years.”

Ryan Hillman Salesman and Installer Custom Auto of Rexburg Rexburg, Idaho Barry Pierce, owner: “He steps up to the plate whenever I need him.”

Jeremy Howland Lead installer Swamp Pop Sound Shop Orange, Texas Don Crawford, owner: “A customer came to us after measuring 142.0 decibels on an SPL test and requested help on gaining decibels (with the same amp/woofer equipment). Jeremy suggested a very tightly built enclosure for the 4-15” Memphis Car Audio PR woofers system at the initial conversation. Jeremy helped design and build the box, and the ported/double-walled box actually gave the customer a full 5.1 additional decibels from the previous enclosure. The customer later went to a local SPL event and took first place in his division.”

Julie B Sales

Eagle Mobile Electronics Vineland, N.J. David Arsenault, owner: “Julie has been priceless in sales, not to mention she is also my wife.”

At Kingpin Car & Audio, the store’s new 8,000 square-foot loca- tion in Wilsonville, Ore., has been the catalyst for many changes.

A New Crew is Crowned at Kingpin Car & Audio

From L to R: Facility Coordinator Brent Hunter, Technicians Jennifer Hunter and Scott Fandrey, and Owner Jason Kranitz.

“With this space, we have put our foot down,” said Facility Coordinator Brent

Hunter, who brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the posi- tion. “We moved from a 4,000 square-foot shop [back in November 2011] to where we are now, which is right by the I-5 highway ramp, so we have more than 100,000 cars go by a day.” The store regularly deals with high-end installations, and can get as many as four

Porsches into the shop in a week. “We just did off-road lights on a Porsche Cay- enne,” confirmed Hunter. Recent posts on Facebook also show a Porsche Carrera’s new navigation system, which also features a Hertz Digital 4-channel amp. The page is full of great photos and detailed descriptions of the work involved. Under his direction, Hunter has been focusing efforts on customer service perks

like a waiting area with WiFi and a 50-inch plasma as well as a beefier marketing drive, which includes a stronger push into Facebook and YouTube this year. “We’re putting all our effort into the Internet,” he said, and added that the page is updated daily with photos and videos of installations. The Facebook page has 300-plus “Likes” since March and is averaging more than 1,000 views per week. The shop previously posted videos of YouTube, but stopped two years ago. Hunter is revving up that effort as well. The shop has also used the move to its new location as a fresh start to put together a solid crew of professionals. Three of those on the staff each have 20 years of industry experience, including the shop’s first and only female installer, Hunter’s wife, Jennifer, who has 15 years of industry experience with the last five or six as an installer. Others on the team have recently returned from 3M Paint Protection training while another traveled to Arizona for the Elettromedia training. Future plans, Hunter said, include having all installers become MECP certified.
