SpotlightOn is an Entrepreneur Country monthly feature which showcases the work of some of the best entrepreneurs and innovators in the UK who are under the age of 35 (which we call the Young Masters Community). 1. Can you describe your company and the service you provide? There are currently around 40,000 registered architects and interior designers in the UK wasting valuable hours at the computer, creating a range of 3d objects in order to bring their design concepts to life. theCADcube provides a free online library of 3d CAD models from leading and niche manufacturers, saving Architects and interior designers valuable time by easily including these products in their projects with just a few clicks.
2. How did your journey begin? Whilst I was working as an intern with an energy consultancy company,
I was also working on my business plan and conducting research into my idea. I was helping a client of the energy consultancy to apply for various grants and decided to put an application in for a TSB grant for theCADcube. This was successful and provided me with the initial funding, and the confidence, to get the business off the ground.
3. What was your first big project? Launching the actual website was a big deal. There were countless disagreements and setbacks involving the web designers along the way and it seemed to take forever to get to that stage and to get it the way I wanted.
4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I plan for theCADcube to be a standard industry tool, leading the way in improving collaboration between design professionals, manufacturers and clients through innovation and good design. I want to change the currently inefficient supply chains within building and design and see these sectors catch up with engineering, which is years ahead.
