Letter From The Editor of Entrepreneur Country Dear Entrepreneur Country readers,
I am so glad to be addressing you in my first Editor’s letter and I feel incredibly humbled that I am able to create a monthly magazine that showcases so many exciting business owners. At Entrepreneur Country, our only hope is that we provide a unique forum for entrepreneurs of all calibres where you can be part of a community, exchange advice, enrich your knowledge and strengthen your businesses.
With every article I read and the people I meet at our events, I feel I get closer to understanding the entrepreneurial plight. I am not only amazed at every story of struggle that concluded in business success through sheer insane drive, I am inspired by every one of your unique experiences of going it alone.
On the cover this month is Michelle Mone, Founder of Ultimo and one of the UK’s most prominent female business leaders. Michelle has been through every possible setback, both business related and personal, yet has created a multi-million pound lingerie company out of a passion and understanding of the female customer. I was in awe of her determination to always be at the top of her game and to never accept second best, and I’m sure you will too. Find my interview with Michelle on page 38.
Speaking of inspirational women, a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network (DWEN) conference in India. Never have I been among so many women from across the globe come together and display leadership, power and innovation, with delegates such as Julia Grinham of Upper Street, Tara Hunt of Buyosphere and Sarah Prevette of Sprouter fast becoming the power engines of the world economy. My gut feeling among so many women who have founded companies in consultancy, marketing, fashion, catering - was that 1. I wanted to join the DWEN club, and 2. That everywhere, including India, there are opportunities to forge a spot in an industry, contribute to society and turn a vision into reality.
