behind these not-for-profit businesses aren’t serious entrepreneurs with plans for growth and innovation needs to think again.

Launched in 2010 by 23-year-old entrepreneur Tom Chance, Giveacar enables motorists to scrap their cars and give the money they receive, or a proportion of it, direct to a charity of their choice. A strictly non for profit outfit, it covers its costs by taking just 25% of the value of the disposal.
Chance came up with the idea when he tried to scrap his own car and found it to be a stressful and frustrating experience. At the same time, the recession was starting to make a big impact on charitable donations, so after discovering that a similar
