by Maureen Horton of Travel a la Carte
Last month, Emirates Airline commenced a twice-daily service from Glasgow to Dubai and introduced first class on both flights with an extended chauffeur service to and from your front door, within a radius of 150 miles from Glasgow Airport, offered complimentary.
The double daily service gives travellers the opportunity to connect onwards to the airline’s global network of over 120 destinations spanning 6 continents seamlessly.
These destinations include South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India and the Far East and the paradise islands of the Maldives.
This is the first time ever that Scottish travellers are able to experience flights with a first class cabin and is testimony to the popularity of Emirates and it’s well deserved reputation as being one of the best airlines to fly with. Dubai is on target to become the World’s busiest international hub by 2016. Those travelling on the lunchtime service EK28 on a 3 class upgraded Boeing 777-300ER will be delighted with the award winning service.
The first class cabin has only 8 Private Suites with remote controlled door, lie flat bed with multi mode massage system, work desk, an electronically controlled personal mini bar, room service feature and the airlines state-of- the-art on demand flight entertainment on a 23 inch wide lcd screen.
The new evening service EK26 on an Airbus A340-300 has 12 luxurious sleeper seats with a 70 inch set pitch, electronically controlled leg rest, lumbar support, privacy hood and the same entertainment system.
Once you are comfortably settled on board you will enjoy inspired cuisine as a 7 course meal is presented on Royal Doulton fine bone china, Robert Wetch cutlery and the finest champagne and wines served.
Don’t think this will cost the earth as with our Tour Operator partners we help organise itineraries to all the airline’s destinations ensuring the best possible prices.
So if you are thinking of that very special trip..........
Why Not Indulge! Local Kids Raise Money
During a recent school holiday, 3 local kind hearted Houston kids decided to entertain themselves by cooking up a storm and having a bake sale to raise money for Arthritis Research UK.
The enterprising youngsters, all from the Cricketfield Estate, made cookies, brownies, truffles and lots more and then sold them to neighbours to raise money for the charity that works to take the pain away from the 10 million sufferers of arthritis, including 15,000 children.
Lauren McPherson, Andrew Hay and his wee brother Jake Hay raised a fabulous total of £36 and presented it to Regional Fundraising Manager Catriona Connelly, who said “This is a really lovely thing for the kids to do; they have given up their free holiday time to raise money for people who are in a lot of pain and particularly for children who are not able to enjoy the pain free life that they have. The charity is delighted that they have decided to support us, what great kids”.
If anyone would like to learn more about the charity, or would like to get involved in fundraising, please contact Catriona Connelly on 01505 690 444 or email
