RBS Mortgage Centre Staff From Greenock Invest Time At Finlaystone
Finlaystone Estate Rangers were joined by staff from RBS Mortgage Centre in Greenock to celebrate ‘Volunteers Week’ by holding a ‘Conservation Day’.
RBS organiser, Joan Diamond said ‘I’d like to thank the Rangers for their patience & support when myself, Roslyn Mclarty & approx. 20 of our work mates from RBS Mortgage Centre Greenock, who all live in the Inverclyde & Renfrewshire area, appeared at Finlaystone to help where we could around the estate. As you can imagine from the look on some of our faces we didn’t think that replanting trees was quite what we were expecting as a task for the day.
However, once in the fields with our mallets in hand and the endless sea of new trees we took a deep breath and began what became a very therapeutic and enjoyable day as the sun shone on us while we worked in what can only be described as movie scene settings of beautiful countryside. I must say that the physical side of this job was exhausting & the rangers who do this are very special people to do this day in and out.
The day went by in a flash and as we all left for home, many of my work mates, although tired, stated that they had really enjoyed themselves and would be very willing to come back in the coming months.’
Joan continues “As members of RBS we are given a challenge each year to invest our time and talents into the local community as part of our community investment programme as often as we can and of which every member of staff is part of. Hopefully we can now add Finlaystone to our list of many organisations we have helped by volunteering our time and talents over the years and will continue to help in the coming months & years”.
Head Ranger, David Finnis said ‘We were very pleased with the tasks undertaken by Joan and her colleagues and by the commitment & enthusiasm shown on the day. We will be delighted when they return in the future for other tasks.
