Gryffe High School Activities Week
It has been a long tradition in Gryffe High that all S1, S2 and S3 pupils take part in a wide range of activities while the senior pupils are away on exam leave. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they were able to choose from the activities below (with some trip places requiring a ballot when oversubscribed).
Kilbarchan Community Nursery
June has been a busy month in Nursery. We were delighted to once again win fi rst prize for our farm themed fl oat at Lilias Day. A big thank you to all the parents and children who helped to decorate the fl oat and make it such a success.

We hosted our own street party to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee and also watched a video of the coronation. Poppy said “We saw her getting her crown on and starting to be the queen.”
This year our nursery trip was to Finlaystone country park where we all had a great time learning about mini beasts, bats and animals and exploring in the woods.
On 13th June we were very lucky to have a visit from Ben’s aunt Elaine who was one of the Olympic torch bearers. She brought the torch to show us and all the children (and staff) enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of this historic event. We hosted our own mini Olympics on 25th June and parents were invited to attend the closing ceremony.
Another year has come to an end and we will soon be waving goodbye to all of our pre-school children.
Headteacher, Mr Johnson said, “Activities week was a great success. It is good to see so many pupils actively engaged and enjoying themselves. This time allows the pupils to return to school refreshed and ready to embark on a new timetable at the end of May”.
There was also a party for all children on 26th June and a presentation ceremony for pre-school children on our last day 27th June. We wish the children well at their new Primary schools.
Our Royal Jubilee River Pageant was dry!
We had our own Jubilee party on June 3rd at Houston and Killellan Kirk! While the Royal River Pageant magnifi cently sailed through torrential rain, we had fun, sang songs, entertained the children and picnicked.
The Kirk has just been redecorated, and looks splendid. We have also been moved into the 21st Century by installing video projectors.
