Christian Aid Week
The generous people of Houston raised £5300 in the Christian Aid Week door-to-door collection in May - an excellent total and an increase on last year. A big thanks to all the 92 collectors from Houston and Killellan Kirk, St Fillan’s Church and the Church of the Nazarene for their hard work in making this possible, and allowing Christian Aid to help others of any faith or none to support themselves and offer assistance at times of disaster.

Houston CC - Pothole Register
The Community Council introduced a Pothole Register in the summer, which is sited at the Carrick Centre in the village.
Houston residents are reminded that local roads may have unseen hazards in the form of potholes. If YOU see a pothole on the road, why not pop into the Centre, register its whereabouts in the register provided, and help local elected members keep on top of the problem by letting them know about it? The quicker they are aware of the problem, the faster the pothole can be reported by them to Roads for repair. You know it makes sense!

The Old Library Centre is closing for the month of July and our volunteers and staff are looking forward to the holiday. This will be the fi rst time in eight years of being opened that we have closed for a month. This has been done so that some essential maintenance can be carried out and so some of our volunteers will not be on holiday. We hope that our regular customers will understand that this decision has not been taken lightly and that it will not inconvenience them. The Centre will be open on Tuesday, 3rd July for the Bard Concert.
Details of this and our activities are on www.
