Royal Garden Party
Glentyan Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No.422, held a fundraising Royal Garden Party on 26th May, in the garden of Worthy Matron Aileen Chalmers. Her chosen charities she supports this year: Erskine, Poppy Scotland, Help for Heroes.
On hearing about fundraising project, for a young 3 year old boy, Brandon, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy (Duchenne), the Chapter decided to assist with extra fundraising ideas.
Glentyan Chapter, arranged a special collection at their meeting, and £80 was collected. At the garden party, a further sum of £345 was raised, making a grand total of £425 for Brandon’s Fund.
On arriving at the event, Isobel Hardie, from Kilbarchan Pipe Band, piped in all the guests, which
made everyone feel special, especially as they walked along the red carpet.
Elspeth Chalmers entertained with songs from “Wicked”, which everyone was mesmerised by her beautiful voice.
A young dancer, Emma Devine, entertained with dancing, which added to the atmosphere.

Kilbarchan Lilias Day
The Committee would like to express their thanks to all who supported Kilbarchan Lilias Day in June, whether participating in the parade or running a stall in the park. A special thank you goes to Porsche Glasgow, for supplying the car for the School Queen.
Congratulations to the Kilbarchan Boys Brigade who won the Youth Challenge. Our seven – a side football between Kilbarchan Primary and Bridge of Weir Primary resulted in a 1-1 draw. We are pleased to announce the winners of the decorated Floats, Shops, Premises as follows:

New Staff at Weavers Cottage
Seasonal staff changes are taking place at the National Trust for Scotland’s Weaver’s Cottage, Kilbarchan. New senior staff and guides are being employed. First to answer the call was James Wallace, of Kilbarchan. Photo shows James hanging up the ‘Welcome’ sign.

The “Royal Quiz” was won by Marianne from Erskine. The prize was a return journey in a chauffeur driven Limousine, courtesy of A&I Inglis Funeral Directors, Irvine.
The day’s fundraising event raised £845.
Other businesses donated prizes for the event, and we would like to thank them most sincerely for supporting it: Jacqueline Docherty Hot Stone Massage Renfrew, Totally Amazing Tanz & Nails, Lees of Scotland Coatbridge.
Kilbarchan National Women’s Register

Summer in the West Church
During the summer we will be having joint services with the East Church. On the 1st, 8th, and 15th July the services will be at 11am in the West Church and conducted by Mr. Russell Banks. On these Sundays there will be a Crèche and Summer Junior Church. The Rev Arthur Sherratt BD will conduct worship in the East Church on 22nd and 29th July and 5th August.
