As Depute Convener of the Community and Family Care Board I am very conscious of the responsibility the council has in supporting and protecting all our citizens, especially the most vulnerable in our communities. In this regard, the link community groups and elected members is a vital part of our day to day work.
I have in the last month attended both Kilbarchan and Lochwinnoch Community Councils who do much to support and promote the interests of our villages I would therefore encourage you to attend the local meetings and to become involved in your local Community Council.
I attended the Castle Semple Rowing Regatta in Lochwinnoch on the 19th May which showcased the sporting talents of young and old alike fro throughout Scotland and further afi eld.
Lilias Day in Kilbarchan is always a highlight and this year was part of a long weekend off-for some! and was as enjoyable as ever.
The organisers’ of these village events work tirelessly and are due our thanks. It was valuable to meet so many constituents at both events.
I will not be holding surgeries in July, but these will resume on the fi rst Saturday in August 9am at the McKillop institute, Lochwinnoch and 10am at the Steeple Hall Kilbarchan.
