The Henderson Memorial Trophy Reported by Charles Hamilton, Publicity Officer


Recently at the McMaster Centre in Renfrew, David Dalziel won the Henderson Memorial Trophy in Paisley Colour Photography Club’s final and most prestigious competition of the session for three beautiful landscape images.


This competition was open to all club members competing on an equal basis with each entry consisting of three images judged as a set.


This year the judge was a long standing friend of PCPC, Alastair Swan (Ayr) who is recognised for his technical

expertise and imaginative approach to photography. The standard of entry was very high over a wide range of subjects and Alastair gave a very in depth analysis to each of nearly a hundred images, giving a range of hints and suggestions as to how an image may be improved and also acknowledging the qualities of the images.


“Winter on the Dales”


In the Henderson Competition, fourth place was awarded to Joan Thomson for her set of beautiful compositions “Old Barking House”, “Vase Arrangement” and “Autumn Light Kilchurn” whilst in third place was Club President Norma McDowall for her accurately captured natural history images “Common Blue Resting”, “Ringed Plover Feeding” and seascape image “On a Harris Beach”. In second place was Mike Cruise for his expertly photographed set of images “The Farrier”, “Red Deer Hinds Glen Etive” and “Capercaillie” but in first place and winner of the top prize was David Dalziel for his stunning landscape images “Winter on the Dales”, “Laig Bay Sunset” and for the image judged to be top image in the competition “Misty Sunrise Knapps Loch”.
