ASK THE EXPERT
PUBLICATION INFORMATION
The Workplace Violence Prevention eReport Publisher: National Institute for Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc.
Managing Editor: W. Barry Nixon, SPHR
The Question: If I take an employee who is very upset outside to walk / talk / calm down, and it’s obvious that they are not calming down, can I send them home for the day? Do I have to get permission from HR first? If so, what should I do with the agitated employee…bring them back into the HR office, tell them to wait while I go get HR?
