SOW YOUR NAME IN SEEDS If there is any space left in the garden, maybe where crops have been harvested, why not let your children sow some seeds in the shape of their initials or fi rst name.


✔ Prepare an area of soil, dig it over and rake it ready for sowing seeds. Then take a piece of chalk and write the child’s name / initials onto the soil for them to follow. Older children will be able to do this themselves.

During the warm summer days, the seeds should germinate in no time and you can begin harvesting the tasty leaves in a few weeks.


✔ It’s is a great way of teaching your children about the different fragrances, fl avours and uses of herbs.


✔ Also, as you may have noticed, the packets of fresh herbs in the supermarket come from all over the world. By growing your own, you will be doing your bit to cut down on air miles!
