paraGon Competition Gt ChallenGe The Paragon Competition GT Challenge presented by Toyo Tires is a race group which provides endurance style racing with pit stop strategy. Two competitors are allowed to co-drive a car and share championship points, but that is only optional. In its third season of competition, GT Challenge continues to grow each year and is now the second largest of all regional race series. They follow the same classification structure as the GT Sprints (with the exception of GT6) and each race requires a mandatory pit stop which may or may not include a driver change. New for 2012 is the introduction of the GT1 Cup, a sub- series within the reg- ular one hour race format, featuring six one hour races over five events. •

varaC / G70+ The Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) is the main Vintage Racing Club in Eastern Canada, although we have members from the Prairie Provinces, the US, Europe and, of course, Ontario and Quebec. VARAC races cars made in 1989 or earlier and split their cars into four age groups: Prewar (in- cluding postwar MG T series cars), Vintage (for cars up to December 31, 1961), Historic (for cars from January 1, 1962–December 31, 1972), Group 70+ (for cars from January 1, 1973–December 31, 1989). We then split these age groups into classes based on what type of car they are: sedan, sports racer, open wheel car, sports car etc. Vintage racing should be enjoyable to everyone with a minimum em- phasis on results. When you are compet- ing just for the joy of taking part, it really does keep the fun in Vintage Racing. That’s the VARAC spirit. •

grouped based on the bracket that a car and driver combination performs within. With a total of 21 sprint races spread over the seven champi- onship weekends, this format ensures maximum inclusion as it accommodates both an extensive variety of sedans and driver experience at minimal cost. This is the largest series CASC-OR has and the action never stops. •

Formula Libre Championship offers all open wheel single seat race cars and light- weight sports racers that do not fall within any other specific recognized class a “place to race” at each of the seven regional cham- pionship race weekends. Don’t let the wide variety of cars fool you into thinking that these are not fierce com- petitors. These are some of the fastest, most nimble machines at any regional race week- end and the drivers are enthusiastic about testing the car’s (and sometimes their own) limits. The Libre grid includes the popular Formula 4 class from the Three Quarter Litre Association (TQLA). •
Formula 1200 The Formula 1200 Drivers Association (FTDA) Champi- onship is a single marque open wheel single seat racing series. The strict rule set that provides a reliable mechani- cal platform and virtually identical performance char- acteristics from car to car promotes driver develop- ment. Typically home to some of the region’s youngest com- petitors, this series also at- tracts veterans who enhance the driver development expe- rience.
Racing is so tight that the cars often form a train and it is not uncommon for the top three or four cars to finish within a second of one an- other. The championship participates in six of the seven regional championship race weekends. •
