Let loose in the kitchen


More than 40 Executive PA Magazine readers were given free access to the kitchen in Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre during an exclusive tour of the new South Wharf Meetings & Events spaces.


SWME seamlessly combines the MCEC and the adjoining Hilton Mel- bourne South Wharf to offer flexible venues for 10 up to 250 people with tailored menu choices, the latest tech- nology and Yarra River views. Guests were able to visit the kitchen


to watch theMCEC chefs at cooking stations preparing tasting dishes made fromingredients sourced fromVictorian suppliers, and to sample Victorian wine. Reader Robyn Karas says that see-


ing such a large kitchen in action was “a rare thrill”. “Our team enjoyed the night of net-


working and the chance to showcase SWME, which has been designed to provide organisers with flexibility and more intimate options for smaller meetings and events,” saysMCEC


Wine, food and song


Executive assistant Belle van Unen of Siemens was among 380 guests at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre’s Signature Event - a showcase of fine food, wine and entertainment. Chief executive Peter King welcomed


guests in the Banquet Room, which was transformed with velvet drapes, chandeliers, gold-embossed wall panels and customised lighting. Entertainment included singer Katie Noonan accompanied by a string orchestra, plus the Ten Tenors.
