Here in Northamptonshire Wollaston BMW has been the home of MINI since its launch. Under new ownership since 2009 the business has sought to marry an exceptional product with exceptional levels of customer service based on the mission statement of Right First Time, On Time, Every Time. T e MINI Team is based at the foot of Cliftonville Road in a rather distinctive black box which was completed in late 2006. T e rather un-car dealer like feel continues inside where all is black and orange and neon, more nightclub than garage.


Michael McKenzie, the Brand Manager, takes the view that diff erent is good, “One of the nicest compliments we can receive is when people tell us that we’re nothing like other car dealers” he says, “I know then that my team are doing what they do best which is making people feel like individuals with individual needs.” Individuality is a constant of the brand as it is designed to be built to order with countless permutations and combinations.


“ We like to think of MINI’s as being as individual as their owners” says Michael who has been at Wollaston since 2001. “I think I’ve probably seen every possible variation” he says. T e team at Wollaston have bags of experience too but are allowed to deviate from the usual car sales pitch in order to better deliver what customers want, “I’m under no illusions that we are here solely for our customers” says Michael, “Car dealers tend to assume that a dealership is somehow diff erent but in reality we’re just a nice shop and our customers want to be able to enjoy shopping for a MINI instead of having to run the gauntlet of a predatory group of salesmen out to push you into a car you don’t want. People would like to view and drive without having to leave details, so we don’t make them, we’d like to talk to you about buying a new car but if you don’t want to talk to us that’s fi ne, we’re here when you’re ready.”


And sales are continuing strongly given the fi nancial climate. “A combination of several


factors from incredible fuel economy (up to 74mpg), excellent residual values, premium market positioning for those downsizing and some strong fi nance off ers like £199 a month for a MINI One, 0% 50/50 fi nance on Cooper S and JCW and free Insurance and 5 free years servicing on MINI Cooper” says Michael.


With lots of off ers to talk about and a real feel good economic story for the brand there is lots going for Wollaston MINI at the moment which has to be good for Northampton too.
