In view of the renewed interest in the Severn Barrage, and Peter Hain’s decision to take time out to support the scheme, will Newport benefi t?

Holidays. Will the fashion for Staycations catch on, or will the same foreign locations continue to hold our affection?

The euro crisis is rumbling on and on. Do you think it will ever come to a head and if it does, what effect will it have to this area?

The proposed Severn Barrage has the potential to make a massive difference to south east Wales. It would be the world’s largest renewable energy project and, initially it would create serious numbers of construction and engineering jobs many of which would be locally sourced. There would also be long-term jobs created as well as a knock-on benefi ts in terms of local supply chains and infrastructure. It would also show case our ability to deliver a large scale engineering project to the global market place. Long term it would reduce our dependence on imported carbon fuels and could provide up to fi ve per cent of the UK’s electricity requirements.

A ‘whatever suits’ at that point in time. Having jetted off to the Med for a villa holiday for the last few years – with three young kids in tow – this year we are holidaying in Dorset. I am not convinced it will save much money – decent UK holiday cottages don’t come cheap – but it will save the sheer stress and hassle of airports, hire cars and such like for once. Plus we will be boosting the British economy! Of course we run the risk of awful British weather. Some may feel that unless they are ‘jetting off’ they are not really getting away from the offi ce – but for me the change of scenery and time with the family is what matters .

By voting in the New Democracy party, the people of Greece have voted to remain the Eurozone. The early responses from the stock markets and bankers is encouraging so if this brings some much needed stability to the Eurozone then hopefully the more recent turmoil will have come to an end enabling the Eurozone countries to concentrated on rebuilding their economies.

Most defi nitely. This is the most important infra-structure scheme in the South Wales/ West of England region since the fi rst Severn Bridge, if not longer. I am wholly in favour of the scheme and will do everything I can to lend my support.

When the weather is kind, there is nowhere I prefer to holiday than the UK. Hence my holiday home in Tenby. However, I do like to get away to somewhere sunny in the winter.

The Eurozone Crisis will take strong political action to ever be completely rectifi ed and I don’t see this coming for a long time yet. Further stimulus will be required and it may take contagion to force that action. It doesn’t affect our local area directly, but affects the performance of the money that we manage.
