Wales are committed to getting the most out of employees and provide development programmes across the workforce. This ensures that each member of staff is working at their optimum level. Staff members, whether at the most senior
level or at the most junior, want to feel valued in the workplace. Training and development is one way of achieving this. Research by Leadership &
Management Wales shows that businesses which continue to invest in developing human capital are far better equipped to navigate their way out of economic difficulties than those organisations that slash training budgets in cost-cutting exercises.
In particular, the LMW report highlights that leadership and management development training led to a significant increase in self- confidence and motivation. This increase in confidence
allows managers to be more flexible and have a holistic approach to the way they lead, which, in turn, has a positive effect on the people around them. Some people find interaction
with more senior or experienced colleagues a daunting experience. However, leadership and
management training can provide managers with the opportunity to enhance their own workplace performance, giving them the confidence to make a valid contribution to discussions and play their part in key business decisions. The LMW report provided
