So, how would you promote south east Wales to potential businesses and visitors? We asked Wonder...


1. Use Welsh hero brands. Slightly further afield in West Wales are two outstanding brands. Howies and Melin Tregwynt. Both of these brands are world famous. I can go to London, Paris and even Hong Kong and people have not only heard of them, but have been wearing them, or have ‘something at home’ by them. I would clearly going to focus on brand, it’s


what we do and love, but to the urbanite these brands tell a story about Wales. That story says, quality, freedom and entrepreneurship. And it’s not only consumer brands which are


our heroes. Admiral, which has had remarkable success in recent years and regularly win awards for staff satisfaction, is an example that big corporates can succeed here too. I’ve always believed the most persuasive way to sell anything to a client is to show them your best case study. We can do that for business by ‘heroing’ our

onder, a creative ideas company based a stone’s throw off junction 27 of the M4. With more than half of its clients based in London,


the rest being in the Newport and Cardiff area, creative director Claire Whitefield is keen to extol the virtues of being based in south east Wales. But she believes that not enough is being done to market the gateway to Wales. She says any strategy to promote the area to potential businesses should focus on three core areas:


brands, and other emerging cool brands, and shout about them to the world. Help and encourage others to do the same, and why not.


2. Invite them to stay over. Simply invite people, they may even pay for the privilege! The Celtic Manor Resort’s new focus on family,
