Rob’s pedal power raises over £2,500

A cycling challenge has helped Arctic Paper’s Rob Slowe raise more than £2,500 for charity.

The UK Publishing Director for the high-quality graphic paper manufacturer and his two companions rode 290 miles from Greenwich Park, London, to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in just three days in aid of the premature baby unit at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Inspired by his godson Joe, who fought for life in the unit after being born at just 28 weeks, Rob and Arctic Paper are hoping to take the total raised to over £3,000. Joe is now 10 and was at the fi nish line

to greet Rob and his team-mates when they fi nally pedaled over on May 20. Rob said: “With Joe and other children like him in our minds, when our legs were aching and out heads telling us to stop, we just thought of those children fi ghting for their lives and it made us push harder and not give up.”

Paper takes you on an ocean journey

An innovative swatchbook has been issued by Fedrigoni to demonstrate their tactile Materica paper.

The Materica swatchbook is designed to take people on a journey through the company’s world with a crater formed by the three weights of paper and eight colours. “It takes you to the centre of the ocean,” said Pari Taylor, Fedrigoni’s Head of Marketing and Promotion, “passing through strange and unexpected images of objects, animals and the environment with a wonderful combination of printing and fi nishing techniques.” Inspired by natural elements such as the

sky, the sea, minerals and plants, Pari added that Materica is “a seductive paper made to stimulate the somatosensory system”. Available in 120, 180 and 360gsm weights, it’s produced with packaging in mind as the long fold-resistant fi bres from the 15 per cent cotton, recycled and pure cellulose fi bres used in this FSC certifi ed paper make it ideal for applications which require rigidity.
