evening of Friday, July6 when the irreverent cult classic film Monty Python And The HolyGrail is shown at Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre.

Promoting Welsh art


ANEWcontemporary art gallery has recentlyopened in Caerphilly. YGaleri, whichaims to promote Welsh art and Welsh artists,is rolling out aprogramme of exhibi- tions,talks and art demonstra- tions throughout the year. Pennell ran the art gallery at Rhondda Heritage Park forfour- teen years.She feels thatthe skills she developed and the con- tacts she made during her time there will help her in this new venture.Some of the contacts she made include respected artists including Brendan Burns,Iwan Bala, Osi Rhys Osmond and Chris Griffin, who have showntheir support by including their work in the first exhibition. This mixed showalso includes signed lino prints by the late William Brown,as well as a diverse range of work by talented emerging artists suchasGeorgina Brownlowand WendyHenley. The exhibition comprises almost


60 works and continues until SaturdayJune 23. YGaleri is open Tuesdayto Saturday, 10am-5pm.

AFREEmusic event is to take place on June 30 as part of the celebrations forthe 2012 Olympic Games. Busk on the Usk is one of 12,000 events being held across theUKand run in conjunction with the London 2012 Festival, taking place before,during and after the Games.
