Beautiful local gardens celebrate the 85th Birthday of the National Gardens Scheme


his year is the 85th Birthday of the National Gardens Scheme. 3,700 private gardens will open for charity across England and Wales including the Queen's and 120 open in 1927.


Originally set up to raise money for nursing in the community the NGS continues to support caring causes and is a main benefactor to Macmillan Cancer Relief donating £13,000,000 up to 2011 as well as Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Hospice Movement, Crossroads and others. So, every time you visit an NGS garden and enjoy delicious home-made teas remember that YOU are helping us to help those who care for others.
