MOTHER NATURE DEMONSTRATES HER DOMINANCE Thursday, May 30th on Private Road 1173 just north of Fairfield, Texas when she unleashed a lightening storm, striking two desalint tanks operated by XTO. It was 7:15 a.m. when a cool front rolled through Freestone County, igniting one of the tanks. Thirty minutes later, the second tank exploded in dramatic fashion, launching flames, and the tank top, skyward 150 feet. Fortunately, there was no collateral damage. (Photography by Scott W. Suspect Charged in Local Robberies

n May 2, 2012, the Jolly’s Valero convenience store,


at US 84 and SH 75, was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect brandished a handgun during the offense. The suspect was described by witnesses as a black male, approximately 5.5 to 5.6 feet tall, wearing a dark colored shirt, dark ball cap and wearing glasses. He was last seen heading

were on yesterday’s agenda for Freestone County Commissioners Court, which convened at 9:00 a.m. on June 4, 2012. Both items were rejected at this time, but may be included in subsequent agendas for the Court.

A description of a vehicle was obtained from witnesses at that time. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in this robbery. Later that same day, in Corsicana, the Tiger Tote on MLK Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint. Two clerks were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect in this case was described as a black male, approximately 5’6”, wearing glasses, a blue shirt, and displaying a handgun. Corsicana Police Department dispatch put out a message to law enforcement agencies in an attempt to locate the suspect. They were aware of the Teague robbery and the

a run-off election between Democrats Keith Brackens and Michael Daniels will take place on July 31st for County Commissioner Precinct 3 after Brackens failed to secure 50% of the vote at 127 votes over challengers Michael Daniels 125, Marcus Pfeifer 101, and Czar Perry, Jr. 65. Republican candidate Chief Deputy Sheriff Don Anderson, with 1,324 votes over Bill Madding’s 394 votes and Tommy Page’s 391 votes will face Democratic candidate County Constable Ken Session who received 604 votes.
