elcome to the June issue of A1 Lighting.

In this month’s issue we take a look at some serious aspects of lighting design. Firstly, we explore the importance of the correct lighting systems in the healthcare sector. An area that is getting a lot of publicity at present with regards to budget cuts, efficiency in healthcare buildings is essential. We take a look at ways in which lighting can help to tip the balance.

Following on this theme of essential installations, we also have a look at how lighting in the emergency sector is developing to meet changing regulations and to ensure the continuing safety of various public and industrial buildings. From industrial to indulgent, there are a number of great new projects in this month’s issue that really show off the full potential of lighting as spectacle. Firstly, this month’s Tech Page has been taken over by Luc Peumans, Founder of the lighting company Painting With Light, who works in architectural and entertainment lighting, and talks about how the two disciplines compare. In this issue we are very fortunate to have been walked through the details of a project that Philips has recently been working on for the Empire State Building by Jeff Campbell, Global Director of Architectural Products at Philips Color Kinetics. Lucky us!
