Jands Vista Takes Centre Stage at Friedrichsbau Varieté

New Appointment for Tridonic

A Jands Vista T2 is at the heart of the lighting control system at Friedrichsbau Varieté in Stuttgart, one of the most popular and influential variety show stages in Germany.

Tridonic UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Payne as UK pre-sales manager. His role will see him working closely with consultants, architects, end users and partner OEM’s to ensure they are fully supported with the commercial and technical benefits of the company’s leading edge lighting solutions.

Jonathan brings with him a wealth of experience in lighting controls and KNX systems and has expertise in both project execution and management. He has previously worked for ECS, Dynalite and Andromeda.

Awash with colour and dynamics, an eclectic mix of circus and performance skills merge contemporary and classic aesthetics, accompanied by the Friedrichsbau Varieté Orchestra. Each of these shows has two versions - long and short - and each performance run is between two and three months.

The Vista T2 lighting console was specified by Friedrichsbau Varieté’s Technical Director and Lighting Designer, Torsten Schulz. The console controls up to 156 dimmer channels and a number of automated lights including: Coemar Infinity Spot and Washes, Chroma-Q™ Color Block DB4™ fixtures, Chroma-Q Color Block 2™ fixtures, and GLP Startube 4 fluorescents, along with haze and fog machines. They also have an Arkaos DMX 3.6 media server, which is triggered by the desk, together with an Extron ISS 506 video switcher for IMAG camera playback.

Ridi Is A Fruitful Choice For Orchard School

Orchard Primary School in Hackney has embarked on an ambitious project having been awarded £6m by the Primary Capital Programme. The project includes the complete refurbishment of the 3-storey building and an extension that has been designed by architects at Rivington Street Studio and incorporates both lighting control and luminaires from RIDI. Orchard’s build needed to comply with a ‘Very Good’ rating from BREEAM, which was realised with 10% of the buildings energy consumption coming from renewable sources. A system of RIDI luminaires and lighting controls contribute, which service existing and newly created classrooms. RIDI’s F-Line luminaires were installed in coupled rows to the classrooms as the slim styling provides the option for a variety of light distributions and can be either surface-mounted or, crucially, suspended. At Orchard, the indirect light and option for suspension allowed the lighting system to integrate with suspended acoustic panels, ensuring a suitable working environment for the pupils.
